Bug: When opening Files, it will close after 1–2 seconds

When I enable “Toggle the preview pane”, it will automatically close when I close it and open it again

Solution
I found out that by disabling the “Toggle the preview pane” fixes the problem.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open Files App
2. Click the three dots "..." or "See more" in the upper right corner
3. Click "New Pane"
4. Enable "Toggle the preview pane" or press "Ctrl + P"
5. Close the Files App
6. Open it again

@Josh65-2201 this type of issue is usually dependent on the screen size and resolution, at the end of the day it's an issue with WinUI but there are workarounds that sometimes help. The main challenge is being able to reproduce the issue to work on a fix.

I reproduced by following steps.

1. Enable the Tags widget.
2. Enable the preview pane.
3. Start the dual pane mode.

Edit: I have found that the crash occurs when the tag widget is enabled and the pane is not wide enough. Whether or not dual panes or the preview pane is enabled is not directly relevant.

Yes, it won't close if it's full screen. I tried it and it's okay

The crash seems to occur when the home page is too long vertically. The Tags widget tends to be longer and crashes more easily, but this is not a problem with the Tags widget itself.
