Runlet 0.2.2 gives the app its icon. Website: https://filipac.github.io/runlet/

What's new

  • App icon. Runlet.app used to show the generic app icon in Finder, the Dock, and Launchpad. It now has its own: the purple Runlet mark with the play triangle and cursor. On macOS 26 it's a Liquid Glass icon (Icon Composer), so it follows your Default, Dark, Tinted, or Clear icon style. The README and website show the same icon, and their favicons and social preview image were regenerated from it.
  • First-launch steps in the README and on the website now describe System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Open Anyway. Since macOS 15, right-click ▸ Open no longer opens apps that aren't notarized.

Install

Download Runlet-0.2.2.dmg (drag Runlet to Applications) or Runlet-0.2.2.zip. Requires macOS 26 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

Runlet is an early release and is not notarized yet (ad-hoc signed), so macOS blocks the first launch. Open Runlet once, then go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the message about Runlet. Or remove the download quarantine in Terminal:

/usr/bin/xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Runlet.app

Updating from 0.2.x: replace the app in Applications. Your snippets, history, and targets stay where they are. If the Dock still shows the old generic icon, remove Runlet from the Dock and add it again.

Notes

  • Early preview. Package tests passed in each pull request; for this build the packaged self-test passed (6 of 6 checks), and the packaged app carries the icon (Assets.car, AppIcon.icns). The UI test suite was not re-run.
  • Free and open source under the MIT License.

2026-10-03 — App icon (#101)

  • Runlet.app has an icon: the Runlet mark from the README and website (a purple gradient with
a white play triangle and a cursor bar) instead of the generic app icon, in Finder, the
Dock, Launchpad, and the About panel. project.yml already named an AppIcon, but there
was no asset catalog, so nothing was compiled into the app.
  • It is an Icon Composer icon, Runlet/AppIcon.icon, so on macOS 26 it is drawn in Liquid
Glass and follows the icon style chosen in System Settings ▸ Appearance (default, dark,
tinted, or clear). actool also renders the flat images in Assets.car and AppIcon.icns
    from it.
  • A classic Runlet/Assets.xcassets/AppIcon.appiconset (16–512 pt at @1x and @2x) follows
Apple's macOS icon template: an 824 px rounded square with continuous corners and a soft
shadow on the 1024 px canvas, with each size drawn at its own pixel size so 16 and 32 px
stay sharp. While AppIcon.icon exists, actool uses that instead; the classic set is the
    fallback if it is removed.
  • scripts/app-icon/make-app-icon.swift generates both from website/assets/favicon.svg;
run it again when the mark changes.
  • The README and the website show the new icon, which looks a little different from the flat
mark. The README's header image, the site's header and footer logos, its favicons (16, 32,
and 48 px PNGs in place of the SVG), the apple-touch-icon, and the Open Graph image
(og.jpg) all use it. scripts/app-icon/export-web-icons.swift renders these images from
    Runlet/AppIcon.icon with Icon Composer's ictool, in macOS's default style: 1024, 512,
and 224 px images with the macOS icon margins and shadow, favicons and the logo drawn
directly at their size, and a 180 px apple-touch-icon filled to the edges.
    scripts/website-screenshots/brand.swift now draws only og.jpg.

2026-10-03 — Install steps: Open Anyway in Privacy & Security (#99)

  • The README's First launch steps and the website's install steps and FAQ no longer tell you to
right-click Runlet.app ▸ Open, which doesn't get past Gatekeeper for an app that isn't
notarized since macOS 15. They now say to open Runlet once, then click Open Anyway next to
the message about Runlet in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and confirm, or to run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Runlet.app in Terminal, as the 0.2.1 release
    notes do.
