I want to create a util lib which can be used both in the backend and in the frontend, and I'd like to make it possible to type a firestore "db" object that can be used when instantiated both with a Admin SDK admin.firestore or Client SDK app().firestore

Can you be more specific for what you are looking for? For example, are you looking for the same APIs in client SDK and admin SDK? Or when you create any objects, you would like these object to be shareable between SDKs?

What I had in mind was, imagine I want to have a helper I can run in the backend or in the frontend with the firebase db, eg const someHelper = (db: firebase.Firestore) => { db.collection("someCollection").doSomething() } right now I don’t know how to type db so that at runtime I can give the helper either a clientSDK.app().firestore() or an adminSDK.firestore() object and that it types correctly both times I understand that those objects don’t necessarily have exactly the same methods, but for handling collections, etc, they should be largely similar no?

Hi @maelp ,

If I understand correctly, in the example above, you are expecting firebase.Firestore to be the same in both SDKs and db.collection("someCollection").doSomething() this api also to be consistent?
