Hello,

My name is Abhijit Makhal. I am a PhD student at Idaho State University, USA in the grasping laboratory. My thesis topic includes robotic grasp planning and collision aware motion planning. I am highly interested for the Google Summer code 2016 at JSK in the project idea namely "Realtime Online Self-Collision detector and avoid motion generation".

I am already familiar with the motion generation by MoveIT in ROS, which uses FCL. I have the knowledge of hardware related to UR5 robotic arms and hands such as Barrett hand and Robotiq grippers.

Please let me know about the opportunities for writing a proposal regarding the project idea. It would be highly beneficial if please I can directed to the current status of idea and any relevant link or codes.

I would be delighted to share my previous experience and any relevant codes regarding the idea.

Thanking in advance. Waiting for reply.

Hello

Thank you for interest, we have updated the project page with
application template for student,

https://sites.google.com/a/jsk.imi.i.u-tokyo.ac.jp/gsoc/2016.

Project status: Yohei's reposiotry could be good starting point for
implementing FCL based collision detectors, so projects includes rewrite
this code, add test code that ensure switching from current collision
library to FCL did not break current status. As for motion planning side,
the strategy is still open and any proposal are welcome.
Propose tips: Applicant is expected to fork the Yohei's repository and

propose on-the-fly motion planning approach.

If you have any further question, please ask us again.
