Release list
v1.0.0
This release contains no game assets. Requires a GAFE01 Rev 0 (USA) disc image (RVZ/ISO/GCM/CISO).
We are happy to finally announce the 1.0 version of Nookery, or ACGC-PC-Port as it used to be known. Our supported platforms and features grew considerably, so it's no longer just a PC port!
We have moved to Aurora as our backend instead of the previous custom one to be able to support more platforms and a better feature set. Legacy backend can still be found under legacy-v0.9.3 branch.
Thanks to everyone who helped along the way to make the port what it is today. I never imagined it would reach this state when I started this port.
New Platforms
- Native 64-bit builds for Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and iOS.
- Vulkan, D3D12, D3D11 and Metal renderers.
New
- Full mouse support. Walking and all overlays are supported. Many overlays have rewritten logic for mouse support, so that it feels natural to use.
- Brand new prelaunch menu and UI, with day/night themes.
- Big performance improvements.
- Town picker for Card B. You can add multiple towns to Card B, and select whichever town you want to visit.
- Improved controller support, better rebind menu for buttons.
- Always fast text option.
- Update checker on the prelaunch menu.
- Ability to change where your data is stored through UI.
- Option to move various HUD elements to the edges while using widescreen.
- Touch screen controls for mobile platforms.
- Ability to change the layout of the buttons for touch screen.
- Better widescreen effects.
- Extended date support up to year 3000. AC is supposed to be played over a long period of time. Now you can include your save in your inheritance.
- The forbidden four NES games can now be won from the raffle.
- Added an option to lower the chance of villagers moving out when you visit another town.
- You can now walk through acres with the net ready while borderless acres is on.
- Default window size is picked based on your screen size.
- Less pop-in on widescreen displays.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an Igloo crash.
- Fixed a possible gyroid crash while closing the item share menu.
- Fixed a possible porter softlock when arriving in new saves.
- Fixed being able to walk into furniture if you are dedicated enough.
- Fixed running on sloped ground at high frame rates.
- Fixed meteors not spawning at very high frame rates.
- Fixed leaves flying away when dropping an item.
- Fixed the recipient page animation getting stuck while writing letters.
- Fixed fog rendering glitches when camera is moved.
- Fixed being able to re-enable borderless acres while traveling to the island.
- Bunch of endianness related save fixes. (Didn't affect port to port saves, could act weird when a save was imported from Dolphin)
Removed
- Model viewer.
- MSAA.
- Desktop OpenGL support.
Notes
- If you are coming from v0.9.x, put this version in a new folder instead of overwriting the old files, then just move your saves over.
- On Android, you might need a different file browser such as Material Files to see Nookery's files.
- If you are using your mouse to play the game, click and hold to walk to pointed direction. When your hands are empty, holding right click will bring up inventory. You can change which tool you are holding with your scroll wheel.
You can use right click to interact with things. - If you are having issues with your controllers, try closing steam.
Getting Started
Windows/macOS: Extract the zip and run Nookery.
Linux: Run the AppImage.
Android: Install the APK.
iOS: See INSTALLING_IOS.md.
Then select your disc image on the prelaunch menu. Optionally grab the texture pack and put it under {your_data_folder}/texture_pack, highly recommended!

v0.9.3-playtest
Animal Crossing PC Port v0.9.3
This release contains no game assets. Requires a USA disc image (GAFE01, ISO/GCM/CISO). Always keep a backup of your save files.
New
- Added an option to disable texture filtering.
Following items are all taken from @Cuyler36's Deluxe mod:
- Camera controls now work outdoors.
- D-pad shortcuts for switching tools and putting the current tool away.
- Picked-up Bells now go directly into your wallet when there is enough room.
- Expanded D-pad support for menus and dialogue.
- Tap B to toggle text sped up. R/L for normal behavior.
- Trees can now be shaken while holding a net or fishing rod.
- Only valid items can be selected when donating to the museum.
Thanks @oprel for their contributions with these.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the aerobics radio model not loading.
- Fixed sound effects disappearing after traveling to another town.
- Fixed an inventory softlock when a pattern is selected.
- Bunch of DT related fixes.
Notes
- Disabling texture filtering won't matter much if you are using the texture pack.
- Port has matured enough to finally move onto other platforms/architectures. We have started to work on 64-bit support, linux/macOS support (possibly more), and modding support. Due to the scope of the changes, we likely won't be accepting PR's until they are done.
- Expect bugs. Still a playtest!
Getting Started
- Extract the zip
- Place your disc image in the rom/ folder
- Run AnimalCrossing.exe
v0.9.2-playtest
Animal Crossing PC Port v0.9.2
This release contains no game assets. Requires a USA disc image (GAFE01, ISO/GCM/CISO). Always keep a backup of your save files.
New
- Borderless acres option, enabled by default. (By @Cuyler36)
- Big performance improvements.
- In-game keybindings editor for keyboard and gamepad.
- Option to remove the town visit requirement for the nookington's upgrade.
- Game window/taskbar icon. (By YourPalFox)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Resetti never showing up after quitting without saving.
- Fixed the fireworks not showing up at the fireworks festival.
- Fixed insects (butterflies, beetles, etc.) flying away too fast at higher frame-rates.
- Fixed some player animations acting weird at higher frame-rates (thanks @Cuyler36).
- Fixed animations replaying at lower frame-rates.
- Fixed the in-game NES console crashing on the L+R+Start soft reset.
- Some more DT fixes.
Notes
- Game should feel a lot more modern now thanks to borderless acres, but if you prefer the original, you are still able to disable it in the settings menu, under gameplay.
- Thanks again to YourPalFox for the icon. It honestly makes the port feel much more complete.
- Performance improvements required some big changes such as generating shader variants, so if you stumble upon any visual or gameplay glitches, please make an issue. That being said, most people will likely see 1.5x to 2x framerate improvement, might be more on older systems.
- Expect bugs. Still a playtest!
Getting Started
- Extract the zip

rom/folder - Run
AnimalCrossing.exe
v0.9.1.1-playtest
Animal Crossing PC Port v0.9.1.1
This release contains no game assets. Requires a USA disc image (GAFE01, ISO/GCM/CISO). Always keep a backup of your save files.
Changes
- Added more framerate options, introduced a max 960 fps limit.
- Memory handling (Thanks to @Cuyler36's suggestion) and crash handler improvements.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Tom Nook failing to spawn in a new town.
- Fixed lighthouse-related buffer overflow.
- Bunch of delta-time fixes.
Notes
- The default frame-rate is still 60. Make sure to change it in the settings if your monitor supports higher frame-rates.
- Also I realized I pretty much never cleared this up in anywhere. If you are using a texture pack, enabling the preload/cache option will eliminate the stutters. First start will take a while to create the cache (you can follow the progress from the window title), should be instant afterwards. This will take an additional 1-2 GB of drive space.
- Expect bugs. Still a playtest!
Getting Started
- Extract the zip
- Place your disc image in the
rom/folder - Run
AnimalCrossing.exe
v0.9.1-playtest
Animal Crossing PC Port v0.9.1
This release contains no game assets. Requires a USA disc image (GAFE01, ISO/GCM/CISO). Always keep a backup of your save files.
New
- Unlocked FPS, main reason why this update took so long! (Collaborated with @Cuyler36)
- In-game pause menu.
- Improved settings menu.
- Load NES ROMs from the
nes_roms/folder. (You need the in-game NES item)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed black screen at the mailbox after traveling to another town.
- Fixed weather being inconsistent across restarts.
- Fixed the money rock being always the same.
- Fixed island cottage door entry.
- Fixed screen flashing (thanks @Cuyler36).
- Added a clear warning when no disc image is found.
Notes
- The default frame-rate is still 60. Make sure to change it in the settings if your monitor supports higher frame-rates.
- Frame-rate independence is a massive change to game logic, meaning we had to change hundreds of files. There might be some we missed. Please make sure to report them if you notice anything moving too fast or weird at higher frame-rates.
- Expect bugs. Still a playtest!
Getting Started

Bug Fixes

- Fixed high scores in NES games not getting saved.
Notes
- Dolphin or new PC saves weren't affected by this bug.
- PC saves should be now 1 to 1 with dolphin saves.
- This hotfix won't fix all previously broken saves. If you have a valuable save file, you can create an issue, and I'll try to fix your save file, not guaranteed to be successful though.
