The details behind Hopline: bitcoin investigation tools that run in your browser. The README has the short version; these pages have everything else.
Start with Getting started, then pick what you need:
- Getting started - How to open Hopline, run it on your own computer, and what you can paste into it.
- Wallet overview - One address as a ledger: balance, history, counterparties and the group of wallets it was spent with.
- Trace layout - Following the money one step at a time, arranging it, and choosing what to show, hide and group.
- Analysis and findings - What the analysis finds, how auto-expand follows the money, and what none of it proves.
- Following a payment to a threat actor - A short guide to the order of work from a known payment (ransomware, extortion, a scam, a theft), using the findings Hopline offers, and the points where an AI assistant helps.
- Accuracy - How often the guesses are right on test data where the answer is known, and where they break.
- Reports and exports - The investigation report and the other ways to take your work out of Hopline.
- Labels, tags and packs - Names, tags and notes: your own, the built-in list, label packs and the OFAC sanctions list.
- Views and navigation - The workspace's layouts, focus and Back/Forward, filters, search, undo, copying and the other controls.
- Fiat values - Showing amounts in a currency, and how far to trust the prices.
- Data sources and limits - Where the data comes from, balances, the backup server, rate limits, running your own server, Tor and outside look-ups.
- Development - Running the tests and looking after the data files.
- Publishing a copy - Building a copy of the pages for a web site, the visit counter, and the deploy workflow.
