enhancement adding auto suggest?

if I want to add auto suggest, do I modify "custom-field.js" and extend based on it?

do you have any suggestion the right way to implement it?

There are a few ways that you could implement it. You wouldn't be able to use any of the built in types. But you could add your own type with the formlyTemplateProvider's setTemplateUrl function.

How I have implemented this kind of thing though is using the template property. You create your own directive with the template of that directive being what you want the field to be. It has access to the options and value properties used in the other templates. And then in the directive's link function you can add functionality (like auto-complete). For example:

  template: '<some-awesome-directive></some-awesome-directive>'

app.directive('someAwesomeDirective', function() {
  return {
    template: '<div><!-- formly templatey stuff --></div>',
    link: function(scope, el, attrs) {
      scope.functionality = function() {
        // do something awesome
      }
    }
  };
});
