🚀 Q Coin Testnet v0.0.2 - Auto-Reset & Stability Improvements

MAJOR UPDATE: This release introduces automatic blockchain reset functionality and critical stability improvements. The testnet chain will restart with this release.

🔄 Auto-Reset Functionality

The biggest feature in this release is automatic blockchain reset when genesis parameters change. This enables seamless testnet development without manual database management.

How It Works:

  • 🔍 Auto-Detection: Nodes automatically detect when genesis parameters differ from stored blockchain
  • ⚠️ Smart Logging: Clear warnings when reset occurs with old/new genesis hashes
  • 🧹 Complete Wipe: Automatically removes all blockchain data (headers, bodies, receipts, state)
  • 🚀 Fresh Start: Restarts from block 1 with new genesis parameters
  • ✅ Safe Operation: Only resets when genesis actually changes, not on every startup

🛡️ Critical Stability Fixes

Difficulty Collapse Prevention

  • Fixed: Minimum difficulty floor set to 200 (was 1)
  • Problem: Difficulty could drop to 1, making mining trivially easy and destabilizing the blockchain
  • Solution: ASERT-Q algorithm now enforces minimum difficulty of 200 across all code paths
  • Impact: Prevents instant mining and ensures stable block times

Network Improvements

  • ✅ qmpow API properly exposed in all releases for external miners
  • ✅ Enhanced error handling for missing genesis files
  • ✅ Improved logging with clear status messages and debugging info

📋 Upgrade Instructions

From v0.0.1:

  3. Start nodes normally (auto-reset will detect and apply new genesis)
  4. Mining continues with improved stability

VPS Users:

  • Existing VPS deployments will auto-update via systemd service
  • Manual restart recommended: sudo systemctl restart qgeth.service
