CapForge 3.0.0
Update now. CapForge 3.0 is the biggest release yet, and worth it for the fixes alone: more than two dozen, to things you use every day (the .ass export, word timings after an edit, Windows file swaps, the empty library after launch). Around them: a library for your videos with folders, a Publish workspace with a post per channel, captions in other languages, seven Claude skills and 61 tools, a guided tour and a refreshed look. Your projects and presets carry over.

CapForge v3.0.0
If you are on 2.6 or older, update. This is the biggest release yet: a library for your videos, a Publish workspace, captions in other languages, Claude workflows, a refreshed look, and more than two dozen fixes to things you use every day. Projects, presets and fonts carry over; your last project is imported into the library on first launch.
New Features
A library for your videos
CapForge opens on your videos. Every session saves itself into its record, and each card shows a poster and a status from imported to published. Records live under ~/.capforge/library/, readable by Claude with no window open.
Folders, views, search and selection
Nested folders with a sidebar and a path bar, drag to move, grid or list, sort, search by title or file name, multi-select with Move / Remove / Delete, rename in place. Add to library… (⌘O) takes files, folders and .capforge projects in one go.
Folder import, relink and a watch folder
Drop a folder and every video becomes a record. Media that moved is relinked by importing its new location, or with Locate… on the card. A watch folder in Settings → General imports new files on its own.
The Publish workspace
Beside Captions: title options, a description with chapters, tags, speakers, a summary and the publish state, checked against YouTube's limits as you type. A field Claude wrote says so and can be reverted. Copy the whole upload package, a plain transcript, or SRT/VTT per language.
Channels, and a post per channel
Settings → Channels holds your YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and X channels. Each gets a tab in Publish, metered to that platform's limits, and Start from… adapts another tab's text. Imports ask once which channels a video is for.
Shorts, thumbnails and translated metadata
A Shorts card with timed clip suggestions. A Thumbnail card that grabs frames at the playhead or takes your own image and sets the cover the library shows. A Localized card with a title, description and chapter titles per language.
Folder settings
A folder can override the footer, links and hashtags for every video in it and fill template slots, so an event's footers regenerate in one pass.
Caption tracks for other languages
A tab per language above the editor. Translations are written a sentence at a time onto the original timing, flagged when the source changes, with a one-click re-flow. Exports are named after the language (clip.pl.mp4, clip.pl.srt).
Claude works the library
61 MCP tools, up from 34: list and search videos, read transcripts, write descriptions and chapters, translate tracks, grab frames, manage channels and folders. Four slash commands: /breakdown, /describe, /chapters, /batch_publish.
Seven bundled skills
capforge-init, publish, cleanup, translate, style, clips and preflight. View, edit and install them from Settings → Claude & Skills; your edits are never overwritten by an update.
A guided start, and What's new
Coach-mark tours walk you through the library and the editor on the real screens. After an update a What's new card lists the highlights. Both reopen from Settings → General → About.
A copy button on every Publish field
Fill an upload form one field at a time; the footer still copies the whole package.
Settings dialog
A centred dialog with a category rail and search, opened with ⌘,. The theme is Light / Dark / System.
A refreshed look
One amber accent, AA contrast on every label, one type scale, styled sliders, the app's own confirm dialog instead of the OS box, and a resizable right-hand column that remembers its width.
Press-and-hold scrubbing
Hold the mouse on the playhead, the ruler or the waveform and the player follows.
A faster start
The window opens before the backend, the model warms while you set up a drop and stays resident between jobs. "Free model memory after each job" in Settings → Transcription gives it back.
Fixes
.assexports are split into readable cues like.srt, keeping the karaoke highlight.- Word timings no longer move after a text edit or a timeline word drag.
- The library came up empty after a fresh launch.
- New opens the transcribe screen instead of the library.
- Windows: file swaps and reads that hit a sharing violation are retried.
- Posters failed to grab on every record, and small sources are no longer upscaled.
- Library search matches file names and word prefixes.
- Panel widths are remembered, and the timeline redraws when the window is resized.
- Publish: chapter suggestions start at
00:00, findings on chapter rows are drawn, drafts survive an agent write, and an unchanged save no longer bumps the revision. - Smaller: undeclared theme tokens, ⌘, colliding with the playback keys, tour flicker on Windows, Settings staying open under a tour, the new-channel row overflowing Settings, a clipped date on cards, washed-out timeline chips.
