macOS / iOS script fallbacks try faces with OpenType GSUB first: Arabic takes Times New Roman (serif) or Arial / Tahoma (sans-serif) before Geeza Pro, Thai takes Sukhumvit Set / Tahoma before Thonburi. Geeza Pro and Thonburi shape only through AAT morx, so an OpenType shaper left their text unjoined; they stay last for their coverage.
Devanagari gets its own preference (Kohinoor Devanagari, ITF Devanagari) instead of the coverage ranking's AAT-only Devanagari MT.
