agmsgd beta: an opt-in, per-machine resident service that delivers new-message notices to Claude Code and Codex sessions, controlled with agmsg daemon start | stop | status | enable | disable. It registers with launchd on macOS, systemd --user on Linux and Task Scheduler on Windows (Claude Code 2.1.302 or later on Windows). Nothing changes until you turn it on (#1529)
The delivery choice after joining a team, and /agmsg delivery (/agmsg mode keeps working as an alias), offer agmsgd first as the recommended option, then monitor (legacy), turn, both and off, for Claude Code and Codex alike. Where agmsgd cannot run on a machine, it is not offered and the reason is shown. Choosing monitor (legacy) keeps agmsgd away from that project (#1529)
Install and update never ask and never enable agmsgd. They end with one line on how to turn it on, and the first session after an update shows a one-time notice. An update steps a running agmsgd aside and restarts it on the new code (#1529)
