v0.6.2: Some bug fixes and improvements under-the-hood
Greetings again. This release includes only a few major fixes (errors in downloading playlists and individual tracks) and some improvements to the graphical interface. There were also some under-the-hood improvements to the backend.
🐞 Bug Fixes
- Error downloading from playlists (the album item was not found in the track), the error also occurred when inspecting a playlist URL: Fixes #15
- Error downloading a track. The "artist" field was missing from the track: Fixes #17
Both errors resulted from a misunderstanding of the Spotify API response structure; consequently, a field was expected that was never retrieved (in both cases, the album artist(s) were being searched for). A detailed inspection of the API response allowed this bug to be corrected.
🧠 Technical Improvements
- The CLI methods were separated from the main download library. This separation resulted in the creation of a new class called YoutubeDownloaderForCLI, which inherits from the previous YoutubeDownloader class but stores the CLI and API methods, such as those that can have a callback for the progress and status bars. #18
- The methods for downloading images or extracting them as bytes were also separated into a separate class (ImageDownloader), so that the downloader only handles YouTube downloads and calls these other methods. #18
- The graphical user interface has been permanently switched to English, which is expected to make it easier for a wider audience to use. #18
- A URL inspection feature has been added, so now, in addition to displaying the progress bar and log, a list of the tracks to be downloaded is shown, whether as an album, playlist, or the track itself, indicating its artist, title, and duration. #18
