Linux System Profiler v0.8.5
Linux System Profiler v0.8.5 — first public test release
An Apple System Information-style profiler for Linux: your CPU, RAM, storage, GPU, displays, network, and installed software in one calm window — plus update checking for apt, dnf, and pacman, with safe, targeted applies that only ever happen with your explicit approval, group by group.
What's in this release
- Full machine inventory (17 collectors) with shareable reports that scrub serial numbers, UUIDs, and machine IDs first
- Updates hub: check-first by design; explicit per-group applies; administrator prompts that work the way GUI users expect
- Honest results: if Ubuntu defers a package due to phased rollout, the app says so — it never declares "up to date" when it isn't
- Output dialogs with one-click Copy for easy bug reports
- Drive picker for the disk speed test (internal and external drives)
- Plain-language hints on technical terms (the little ? in a label explains it, briefly)
- Report a Bug and Request a Feature built in
Honest limits (early development)
- Developed and tested primarily on an apt-based system (Zorin/Ubuntu family). Fedora, Arch, and openSUSE reports are especially valuable right now.
- No USB device history, no hw-probe submission, no history diffing yet.
- Rough edges exist. Every bug report genuinely shapes the next release.
Install
Download the binary below, make it executable (chmod +x), and run it. No installer, no dependencies to chase — the app checks for and installs what it needs via your OS prompts.
