Open Media Converter 0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 13:57

Open Media Converter 0.1.3 adds French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, with English fallback.

  • The interface follows your desktop language by default. Choose Settings → General → Language, save and restart to use another language.
  • Menus, settings, dialogs, progress information and desktop metadata are translated. Preset names now support Unicode characters.
  • Settings recovery preserves the language preference and output folder when another settings section is damaged.
  • Fixed a native memory ownership issue that could crash the application when formatting the image quality slider.

Download the .deb for Debian/Ubuntu, .rpm for Fedora/RHEL, .pkg.tar.zst for Arch Linux, or .AppImage for a portable Linux application. All four packages include a Java runtime.

Native packages use system FFmpeg/ffprobe and Pandoc; the AppImage bundles these tools. ImageMagick and LibreOffice are system dependencies for all formats. RPM installations need a repository providing full FFmpeg, such as RPM Fusion.

Open Media Converter 0.1.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Oct 21:21

Refreshes the Open Media Converter icon and logo with four colored media symbols and prominent white conversion arrows.

  • Replace the application and desktop icons across all existing sizes, from 16 to 512 pixels.
  • Preserve transparent backgrounds and consistent artwork in both PNG and SVG assets.
  • Regenerate icons from the new master artwork so application and package branding stay in sync.

Packages:

  • open-media-converter_0.1.2_amd64.deb — Debian/Ubuntu
  • open-media-converter-0.1.2-1.x86_64.rpm — Fedora/RHEL
  • open-media-converter-0.1.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst — Arch Linux
  • Open_Media_Converter-0.1.2-x86_64.AppImage — Universal Linux

All packages include a Java 23 runtime. Native packages use system FFmpeg/ffprobe and Pandoc; AppImage bundles these tools. ImageMagick and LibreOffice remain system dependencies for their respective conversions.

Open Media Converter 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Sep 21:42

Fixes the AppImage startup failure reported by AppImage catalog PR #4341.

  • Build the AppImage's GTK/GLib libraries on Ubuntu 22.04 and bundle their complete dependency closure, with a glibc 2.35 compatibility check.
  • Use private native library paths and regenerate image-loader caches for each launch, including relocated and read-only AppImages.
  • Replace the legacy AppImage runtime with the verified appimagetool 1.9.1 runtime.
  • Correct the PNG icon, portable desktop launchers and AppStream metadata.
  • Gate releases on offline GUI, keyboard and real conversion checks on clean Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04 systems without Java, GTK4 or conversion tools.

All packages include a Java 23 runtime. Native DEB/RPM/Arch packages use system FFmpeg/ffprobe and Pandoc. AppImage bundles FFmpeg/ffprobe and Pandoc and supports Ubuntu 22.04 or compatible desktops with glibc 2.35+. ImageMagick and LibreOffice remain system dependencies for their respective conversions.

Open Media Converter 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Sep 20:07

Open Media Converter 0.1.0 improves conversion reliability, process controls and Linux packaging.

Changes

  • Improved per-file conversion settings, format routing, output publication and cancellation safety.
  • Pause and resume running conversion processes across FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Pandoc and LibreOffice.
  • Show indeterminate progress when an engine cannot report measurable progress; completion reaches 100% after output publication.
  • Added configurable, rotating application, conversion and error logs.
  • Updated the application logo and README, including the complete supported-format list; removed obsolete wiki and Flatpak packaging.
  • Native DEB, RPM and Arch packages now use system FFmpeg/ffprobe and Pandoc. AppImage keeps tested versions bundled.

Downloads and requirements

All downloads target Linux x86_64 and include a Java 23 runtime.

Package Installation
Debian / Ubuntu sudo apt install ./open-media-converter_0.1.0_amd64.deb
Fedora / compatible RPM distributions sudo dnf install ./open-media-converter-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
Arch Linux sudo pacman -U ./open-media-converter-0.1.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
AppImage Make Open_Media_Converter-0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage executable, then run it.

Native packages require GTK 4.10+, FFmpeg 6.1+ and Pandoc 3.1+. RPM users need a repository providing full FFmpeg, such as RPM Fusion. ImageMagick and LibreOffice remain system dependencies, including for AppImage. Native package managers install declared dependencies automatically.

Available conversions depend on the format pair and installed codecs. PDF is an export format; PDF-to-editable-document conversion is unsupported. SVG exports contain a raster image.
