Four releases, and a runtime leap
gh-aw did not coast into Monday. Since the October 23 digest, the project published v0.93.3 through v0.93.6. This morning the headline is v0.93.6: MCP Gateway moves to v0.5.0, the firewall moves to v0.29.0, and compile-time checks now catch missing step references. When MCP compile or audit hits a timeout, the tools return stage-aware partial results instead of failing cold.
The pace under that release train is steady. The last 30 days hold 1,244 unique commits, with Copilot (501) and Peli de Halleux (483) nearly even. A 7-day average still sits near 40 commits a day. Today shows only 3 commits because this is a morning snapshot; the newest commit landed at 03:08 UTC.
Key metrics
The release sprint
v0.93.6 (today, §40272813399) strengthens the runtime stack. Skipped threat detection no longer reports inherited agent tokens, fetch scripts are more portable, and a compile-progress file permission regression is fixed. Landon Cox shipped the gateway and firewall bump in #71957.
v0.93.5 (Oct 25, §40214161211) is the hardening release. Safe-output integration jobs can use network credentials. Engine driver crashes now get secret-safe stderr classes, which makes triage faster. The Pi CLI default is 1.4.0. New linters include
readerstringconv, and secret-leak analysis follows credential handoffs through step outputs.v0.93.4 (Oct 25, §40168527911) makes work queues install pools and workers on first use, with clearer diagnostics when a pool is missing. Safe outputs gained machine-readable error codes and visible staged-preview notices.
gh aw updatedoes fewer network fetches. Don Syme landed that fetch reduction in #71687.v0.93.3 (Oct 24) turns workflow linting on during
gh aw compile(#71349) and adds daily work-queue smoke workflows (#71363).Still on the board
The review queue is active, not stuck.
noneandmaxfor pinned Codex (11 reviews).work-queue-policy(#72028).Community reports worth a reply: Claude and Gemini on Vertex AI (#71985, #71986, #71987), and compiler lint noise when compiling repo-assist (#71710).
The AW Essential 10 track is still open. Gateway hardening before agent start is #72034. Clearer explanations for incomplete results that already have outputs are #72031. Discussion #69887 remains the home for that list.
Around the repo
Audits kept the lights on. New this morning: the arXiv research note (#72049), organization health (#72046), and the Oct 26 experiment report (#72042). A weekly blog post also merged (#71984), along with a community README refresh (#71976).
