The "merge_method" attribute was not available until GitLab 10.7.0 (the latest release). Looks like you figured this out and re-closed the issue. I will add a line to the Javadocs on the create and update methods that highlight this.

Yes, you are right, GitLab 10.7.0 was released few hours ago and my final verification was using 10.7.0, and after this I realized that it works fine and decided to close issue again.
