I've been heads-down on Levelrail for a while and figured it's time to actually show it to people instead of just building in a corner.
What it is: a self-hosted deploy platform. Push to a git repo, get a running app with TLS, logs, metrics, rollback. Think Heroku or Railway, except it's yours, running on your own boxes.
Why I didn't just use Coolify or Dokploy: I actually really like both of them, but they SSH into your server and shell out
dockercommands, then parse whatever text comes back. It works, but it's the reason they poll constantly instead of reacting to real events, and it's fragile in ways that are hard to fix without a rewrite. Levelrail's agent talks to the Docker Engine API directly instead, no SSH involved. The part I actually spent the most time on is observability, mostly because I got tired of "install Grafana yourself" being the answer every time. Metrics and log search are built in, node-local, so idle cost stays low even as you add apps. Deploy markers show up right on the metric charts, which sounds small but it's genuinely nice not having to guess which deploy broke something.
It's Apache 2.0, currently 0.2.0-beta, and there are real gaps (multi-node is early, some things in the roadmap doc are flat-out not built yet). Docs are up at https://levelrail.glinr.com now if you want to poke around.
Mostly just curious whether this is useful to anyone outside my own servers. Happy to answer questions or hear where it falls over.
