Any clues on this lint issue "could not load export data: no export data for" ?

In a Github CI build, I hit the issue of golangci-lint. I've searched a lot but failed to find any clues. Please help take a look at it. Any directions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you have to run go mod tidy

@ldez That might be the root cause. The previous clue you shed on is go version. I changed to go 1.16, run 'golangci-lint', changed it back and ran go mod tidy. go.sum changed.

it does not work for me. I did clean the cache re downloaded dependencies, no changes in go.sum file. it gives me error importing the project path itself. ex: could not import imploy/user/user (-: could not load export data: no export data for "imploy/user/user") (typecheck).
imploy is the name of the project.

I had this problem when my code was inside a folder like for example ./src, the solution was to add the go.work in the root and add the use ./src/

this will then make the super-linter work fine with no errors

If you're finding this issue from a search in 2022; if you replace an interface{} with an any in a .go file, and forget to update your go.mod to 1.18, you'll also run into this problem.

For me it was caused by a compilation error. We tried to update Cilium in a project with Kubernetes 1.24 and Cilium doesn't compile yet with k8s 1.24 (see cilium/cilium#19545). While golangci-lint only reported

This helped me confirm the problem was in one of the dependencies, thx. Linting worked after updating the dependency.

1. Ensure you are setting up the Go environment using actions/setup-go before running the golangci-lint action.
2. Use the mod=readonly option so that golangci-lint doesn't attempt to go mod tidy before running the analysis.

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but I'm not sure where to set mod=readonly. Would this be enabled by setting run.modules-download-mode to "readonly"?

I don't believe this. It was because I had a private Go module for which I had this in my CI pipeline:

instead I changed --local to --global:

Now golangci-lint passes in CI too.

In my case it was because of a version mismatch:

pkg/v3 depends on sdk/v3 and go mod tidy didn't handle the mismatch for some reason.

In my case, the issue arose because my Go 1.17 project imported a Go 1.18 library that utilizes any and generics. Although I was able to build the binary, I encountered this error when using golangci-lint. I resolved this by rewriting the library using Go 1.17.

It is possible that your dependency package lost some its dependency somehow.

Real example: recently I observed this in vendored mode when you perform go mod vendor, push vendor folder to the origin and have modules-download-mode: vendor in golangci config. Turned out that my .gitignore is incorrect and ignores deeply nested folder inside vendor that makes it impossible to "compile" the dependency pointed in the error after "could not load export data: no export data for". If everything works locally and doesn't remotely on CI, check your .gitignore

I would like to note that please ensure your program could be build by go build.

In my case, i import a library requires go1.18 but i use go1.17 to build, which will fail of course. The error message of goanalysis_metalinter doesn't reveal such kind of error.

I also had the same issue. What solved it for me was giving access to private Git repository. In my workflow file, I ran the following code after setting GH_PAT secret variable within the repository. I also added GOPRIVATE environment variable for Go.
