Aether is an experimental hobby operating system with a Zig capability multikernel and Rust user-space services. Start with the README for its current scope and kernel build instructions.
The first release aims for sys-init booting to interactive serial Zsh, persistent OpenZFS, a runner and native package management. That assembled system is still unfinished. Bounded demos and host checks establish only their recorded scope.
- Architecture explains ownership, authority and component boundaries.
- Contributing explains how to report bugs and propose work. PRs are currently owner-only.
- Issues hold live work and dependencies.
- Discussions welcome questions, research ideas and experiments.
- Security reporting gives the private vulnerability route.
This wiki is a map, not a backlog or a duplicate technical specification. Versioned source documents hold contracts and evidence; use Issues for work status.
