url given in documentation incase Quickstart fails also does not work

Which sample are you running? Have you installed the Python client library as advised in the guide?

yes after using the exact pip installation and putting the credentials.json in the same directory as Quickstart.py I get this error, moreover the link provided in Quickstart.py is dead and leads to an empty page.

Which quickstart specifically are you trying to run? I linked to the Calendar API one, but I don't know which API you are trying to use.

I just re-ran this quickstart, using virtualenv to create a clean Python environment. I only get that error before I uninstall the library using pip. After I install it, it works fine. Please double check that the version of pip and python you are using match. Additionally, trying using virtualenv to create a separate python environment, in case there is something strange going on in your default environment.
