InfluxDB as datasource

We would like to use InfluxDB as data source for the map, but it seems only Elasticsearch and JSON is supported right now? We have latitude, longitude and geohash in our timeseries. Is there a way to show that data in the worldmap-panel as of now? If not, what would be a good way / entrypoint to extend the panel to support this.

Alright, we have now actually a PoC working that uses InfluxDB as datasource (table). We will do some more testing and then send a PR when it's ready for prime time.

The datasource needs to be setup like this. One field must have the "geohash" alias and another one the "metric" alias. Important is that the format is "table" and not "time series".

In the "World map" preferences, it is possible to select one field as the "label" for the points on the map.

I dont think the option should be named influx. as it has noting specific about influx currently. Looking at the code it just just reading the standard Grafana Data source Table response format.

@torkelo good point. What other data sources could use this besides Influx? Relational dbs and Elastic Search?

Sorry if my question is offtopic. This issue is about geolocation data and influx. I am searching decision to show map from country keys (country is influx tag).

Will plugin support it?

If you have country code in tag, and use tag in alias field so series name is only country code it should work

I really do not understand how to use aliases. I know templates, I know tags, I know measurements - all about InfluxDB.

I saw "ALIAS BY" and "alias patterns". In documentation on plugin I saw "aliasByNode" but I do not know what is about.

I tried to use template (show tag values from "requests.all.counter" with key = "country") country. But nothing is work. Can you tell me all steps? Thank you.

If your country code tag is named countrythen group by country, then specify $tag_countryin the alias pattern field.

In the group by time interval field specify 30d (or something so you you get only one data point per country code), in worldmap options specify time series as the data mode

Okay, we are using this in production for 2 weeks now and it seems to work nicely. I agree, we can rename the option from "influx" to "table" (or similar). Internally, the functions are actually already called "setTableValues" and "tableHandler".

Is there anything else you think should be adjusted? Otherwise, I can send a PR soon.
