Digital Duck 0.2.1
A free robot duck that lives on your Mac. It walks along the bottom of your screen, climbs your windows, falls over and gets back up, talks back, plays with your music and goes quiet on calls. Every step is a trained robot walking policy in a physics simulation, not an animation.
Download
- Apple Silicon (M1 and later):
Digital.Duck-0.2.1-arm64.dmg - Intel:
Digital.Duck-0.2.1.dmg
Open the DMG, drag Digital Duck to Applications and open it. A 🦆 appears in the menu bar. Signed and notarized. macOS 12 or later.
Chat needs Claude: your Claude Code CLI if it is installed, or an Anthropic API key. Without either, it still walks, climbs and plays.
New in 0.2.1
- The duck stays on the whole width of a window. Before, on a wide window it fell through the top edge when it walked more than a short way from the middle.
New in 0.2.0
- Knows when you're on a call. A call app in front, or another app using the microphone. Headphones on, music paused, quiet until the call ends. It only checks whether a mic is in use, never the sound.
- Controls your music in whatever the Mac shows as Now Playing: "next song", "pause", "what's playing?", "volume to 30". Needs
brew install media-control; volume works without it. - Keeps your Mac awake from the menu, chat or voice.
- Answers faster with Claude Code.
Everything else it does, and exactly what it reads and sends: README. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry.
Built on the open-source Microduck simulator by Pollen Robotics and Hugging Face. Unofficial, inspired by Pollen's Microduck. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Pollen Robotics or Hugging Face.
Digital Duck 0.2.0
The duck now knows when you're on a call, controls your music, and keeps your Mac awake.
- Knows when you're on a call. A call app in front (Zoom, Meet, FaceTime, Teams, Webex), or another app using the microphone, which calls do even when you are muted. It puts on headphones, pauses your music and stays quiet until the call ends. It only checks whether a mic is in use, never the sound.
- Controls your music. "Pause the music", "next song", "what's playing?", "volume to 30", or Control+Option+Space and the arrow keys (change them in Settings → Music). Works with whatever the Mac shows as Now Playing: YouTube Music in a browser, Spotify, Music. Needs
brew install media-control; volume works without it. - Pauses the music while you talk to it and for its announcements, then plays it again.
- Music notes float up from its head while music plays.
- Keeps your Mac awake from the menu, chat or voice ("keep the screen on for 2 hours"). Ends when you quit; a closed lid still sleeps the Mac.
- Says at most two sentences out loud. The bubble shows the whole reply.
- Answers faster with Claude Code: one process stays running between questions.
- Keeps a log,
app.log, in~/Library/Application Support/Digital Duck/. It stays on your Mac.
Download Digital.Duck-0.2.0-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon or Digital.Duck-0.2.0.dmg for Intel. Signed and notarized. macOS 12 or later.
