Progress! 🚀

Or more accurately, a shiny new progress modal dialog box.

While this isn't a monumental new feature, it’s an essential step forward in making the Google Slides Assessor more user-friendly. Now, when you assess an assignment, you'll see a handy progress modal keeping you informed every step of the way.

Why this matters

To implement this feature, I introduced several new classes and refactored parts of the codebase to improve the separation of concerns. This work not only supports the progress modal but also paves the way for future enhancements, including the planned homework checker. This forthcoming feature will automatically reassess assignments at scheduled times and email you a list of students whose work falls below a specified threshold.

Along the way, these changes also helped me:

  • Squash a couple of pesky bugs 🐛
  • Improve error handling across the board 🌟

Breaking Changes ⚠️

Heads up! You will need to update the assessment record template, code to accommodate these changes.

Tip: If, like me, your school account lacks App Script API access, be prepared for some good old-fashioned copying and pasting.

Other Updates

  • Refined the wording of prompts in assessment flows for a slight boost in accuracy.
