A brand-new project could not finish /lore:init without a documentation run's
ceremony. Init rewrites the sample docs/intro.md in the documentation language. That
is an ordinary Write/Edit under docs/, so record-evidence.sh marked the session
as having produced documentation, and the first Stop demanded a source census and a
lore:doc-validator run for a page no source was read for. In the observed run the model
wrote an init-intro-census.md and spawned the validator, which approved a translated
placeholder. /lore:config rewrites the same page from the product description and hit
the same block. Observed in a real project on 2026-10-24.
The starter page is recorded by content, not by session
A new script, scripts/mark-starter.sh, runs after init or config rewrites the page. It
records the page's sha-256 in .claude/sources/.starter-baseline, which is git-ignored.
The Stop gate now treats a session whose only docs/ output is that page, still at that
digest, as having produced no documentation. The validator gate also stops reporting the
page as new and unvalidated. Two properties keep this from becoming a hole:
- The path is fixed (
docs/intro.md). The script takes no page argument, so it cannot
take a real page out of the gate. - The exemption follows the digest, like the validation waiver. The first edit by a
skill, the reviser or a hand makes the page documentation again.
With no digest tool on the machine the page stays gated, as before. The init and config
commands now say explicitly not to write a census or run the validator for this page.
Verified by 11 new tests: the unmarked page is still gated, the marked page passes, an
edit after marking is gated, the starter page next to a real page is gated, a re-mark
keeps one line, and the script refuses a non-Lore tree.
Existing projects need no action. A leftover census for the starter page, such as
init-intro-census.md, records a run that did not happen and can be deleted.
LICENSE is plain MIT
GitHub reported the license as NOASSERTION ("Other") because the Vazirmatn font notice
was appended to the MIT text. LICENSE now holds the MIT text only. The font's OFL
notice stays in the README's License section and in the fonts directory.
