Welcome to the Braincase wiki! This project has been started by two students studying at AUT in the Research and Development project paper. The client of the software is James Skene a lecturer at AUT.

Braincase is to be released as open source software so that anyone can fork it, make modifications and if they want to, make a pull request to merge new features to the mainstream application.

It may be based on an existing software solution, or a custom built system depending on the outcome of the Software Review.

Stable Features

The latest stable release ( v0.5.31 ) is available as debian package and provides the following features:

  • Personal Git Repository for each user
  • Per user public web directories
  • SSL and SSH Access
  • Automatic backups at midnight
  • Exporting of backups to Dropbox
  • Per page access permissions
  • Web interface wiki restore

Improvement Ideas

  • See this if we have to custom make something to schedule backups without access to cron.
  • Make it so one can select some text, and be able to turn it into its own wiki page, replacing the text on the current page with a template referring to the new wiki page
  • Make it so one can select some text, and add a comment to that text
  • Visualize categories and hierarchies with javascript graphing kits in particular this one
