BUG: Chamfer, Fillet and Hollow tools break, when aligning two objects ege-to-edge in a different workplane #917

@PingPongLee thank you for the clear steps and the video, I could repeat it, and your idea was right: the two boxes are not exactly in line after the second alignment. The Align tool rounds the new position to four decimals. For a box that is not turned this changes nothing, but for a turned box it moves the box by about 0.00004 mm, so the two rectangles no longer meet exactly, and the CAD kernel cannot fillet, chamfer or hollow the little step between them. Without the alignment step in between, the same two boxes fillet without any problem. I have changed the tool so that it no longer rounds a turned box off its place; with your steps the fillet of all edges goes through now. It comes with the next release. Until then, do the second alignment on the base plate before you turn the object, there the numbers come out round. If you'd like to support the project, a small donation is very welcome. 🙂 |
Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
So that was a mouthful.
There a video showing the issue below, but I'll describe it in steps here too
Its easier to show in a video so I'll link to one here YouTube
From my experience with TinkerCAD, i believe this could be caused by the alignment in the non-default workplane combined with the rotated object, causes the two rectangles to actually not to be 100% aligned. It is off by such a small scale that mit might not be visible.
