Problem
Mistral Vibe (
vibeCLI, https://github.com/mistralai/mistral-vibe) is not recognized as an agent by Herdr. Panes running Vibe show up as unknown — no idle/working/blocked state in the sidebar, no session restore after a server restart, and no way to useherdr agent wait, herdr agent prompt, or the socket API to coordinate with Vibe instances. What is Mistral Vibe
Mistral AI is a French AI company building open-weight and commercial LLMs (Mistral Large, Devstral, etc.). Vibe is their terminal-native coding agent — a Rust-based TUI similar in shape to Claude Code or Codex. It's open source (Apache 2.0) and gaining traction as an alternative for developers who want a European, open-source option.
Context
Two PRs were opened to add Vibe support but were closed (unsolicited implementation PRs are not accepted per CONTRIBUTING.md):
Agent::Vibevariant,vibe.tomlmanifest, session restore viapost_agenthookBoth were closed without a maintainer picking them up. No Discussion exists yet to formally request this feature.
Requested change
Add native support for Mistral Vibe as a first-class agent:
vibeexecutable asAgent::Vibesrc/detect/manifests/vibe.tomlwith rules for idle (prompt), working (spinner/thinking), and blocked (permission/approval prompts)pane.report_agent, plus session identity for restore after server restartWorkaround today
HERDR_AGENT=claude vibeapproximates state tracking by borrowing Claude's manifest, but detection is inaccurate because Vibe's TUI layout differs (different prompt shape, spinner glyphs, and permission dialogs).Links
