Problem: a
[[keys.command]]withtype = "popup"closes as soon as its command exits, so informational popups (a status board, ajqlisting, any command that finishes) flash and disappear before they can be read. The documented behaviour is intentional — the popup holds input "until its command exits" — but it leaves no way to show output that is meant to be read rather than interacted with. The only workaround I found is to pipe the command into a pager (
| less -R) so the popup stays open untilq. That works, but it makes every informational binding depend on a pager being installed and behaves differently from a plainecho/jqcommand.Why it matters: popups are the natural surface for read-only status output that should not disturb the layout. Today every such binding has to fake longevity, and a binding written the obvious way silently produces an unusable popup.
Environment: Herdr 0.9.5, Linux x86_64, alacritty.
I am only reporting the friction — whether this deserves a setting, a different popup type, or just documentation is your call.
