(This feature is targeted for Summer 2010)
ConMan has a concept of presentations, but there is a much broader way of dealing with presentations, events, etc. In addition, ConMan will provide the ability to do drag and drop (hopefully) scheduling and optional schedule conflict resolution.
The current event scheduling mechanism in ConMan allows for only one type of event, a presentation. To improve upon this, ConMan will implement the idea of ‘Type’. This additional field will allow for several new features:
- Keynotes can be highlighted within presentations
- Internal and External events will be separate and can be scheduled accordingly
- Birds of a Feather, Lightning Talks and other non-presentation sessions
- In fact, any new ‘Type’ of event can be created, making unlimited possibilities within the system
- The administration section for the event can be sorted or filtered by type, with the ability to sort by multiple ‘Types’
There are two parts to this feature:
- The administrator should be able to drag from a list of approved events into a calendar-like schedule
- The system will identify any conflicts prior to saving and confirm
- The calendar and approved events lists can be filtered by ‘Type’ of event
- Registered attendees will be able to pick from a similar list to manage the events they would like to attend
- The list is printable
- Multiple lists can be created, like wishlists
- Implications toward reporting could be useful
