IDE Useful Settings

This page contains some useful settings as discovered for different IDEs.

If you're using IntelliJ, some settings are explained in detail here, and some of those settings are applicable in Android Studio as the IDEs are so similar.

Android Studio

  1. If you have the Flutter plugin, go to Settings/Preferences in the IDE -> Flutter, then check the Format Code on Save and Optimize imports on save boxes. These options are helpful as they work right away.

VS Code

Useful Extensions

  1. Pubspec Assist - Easily add dependencies to your Dart / Flutter project.

  2. Bracket Pair Colorizer 2 - Allows matching brackets to be identified with colours.

  3. Material Icon Theme - Material icons for folders and files

  4. TabOut - Tab out of quotes, brackets
