Added

  • Native macOS Cross-Compilation: Zero-Docker cross-compilation pipeline on Linux and
    Windows hosts for aarch64-apple-darwin and x86_64-apple-darwin. Automatically fetches,
    verifies, and caches minimal macOS SDK stubs (MacOSX26.1.sdk from joseluisq/macosx-sdks)
    into ~/.local/share/hyprcross/sdks/MacOSX.sdk (Linux) or %LOCALAPPDATA%\hyprcross\sdks\MacOSX.sdk
    (Windows), overridable with HYPRCROSS_MACOS_SDK_PATH or SDKROOT. Links Mach-O binaries
    directly via hyprlnk with -C linker-flavor=ld64.lld and -isysroot.
  • Searchable targets Command: hyprcross targets [query] supports searching by natural
    keywords (e.g. hyprcross targets "windows arm", hyprcross targets macos, hyprcross targets musl).
    Lists all supported targets, standard library installation status, build engine, and test runners.
  • Crates.io Publishing & cargo-hyprcross Crate: Added standalone cargo-hyprcross crate
    in crates/cargo-hyprcross to support cargo install cargo-hyprcross directly from crates.io.
  • Pre-Release Workflow: Release workflow automatically differentiates -rc.x pre-releases
    from stable releases, tagging GitHub Releases as beta / pre-release and publishing to crates.io.

  • Cleaner Image Pull UI: Replaced raw, noisy container engine logs during podman pull and
    docker pull with custom hyprcross progress bars and layer download phase indicators.
  • Smarter Auto Engine: engine = "auto" automatically chooses direct host execution for
    host targets, macOS targets, targets without C dependencies (Wasm, bare metal), and targets
    with local cross-compilers installed, using container images only when needed.

How to Upgrade & Install hyprcross

Option 1: Upgrade via Cargo (Recommended for Rust Developers)

To upgrade your existing installation (or install fresh) with Cargo, use the --force flag so Cargo overwrites previous binaries:

# Upgrade hyprcross and the cargo-hyprcross subcommand plugin:
cargo install --locked hyprcross cargo-hyprcross --version 2027.0.0-rc.1 --force

After updating, verify that you are running the new version:

hyprcross --version
cargo hyprcross --version

Option 2: Pre-compiled Binaries (No Rust Toolchain Needed)

Download and extract the ready-to-run binary package for your operating system and architecture directly:
