twr v0.3.0

What's new

  • Remote boxes: run threads on another machine over SSH, inside a container (docker exec, kubectl exec and the like), or on a box that dials in. twr installs, starts and updates itself there (twr box add|list|status|doctor|install|login|project|restart|remove).
  • Accounts: several logins per runtime (Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build), each in its own config directory. twr never handles a token. See docs/accounts.md.
  • The orchestrator's memory on every runtime, kept across sessions, restarts, compactions and runtime switches.
  • Read aloud: /read on reads the orchestrator's messages on the machine you listen on.
  • Compaction and speed: context compaction is recorded and shown, and twr can compact before an expired prompt cache. Old agent events move to archive.db. The hub starts from checkpoints, and the TUI opens from a snapshot, fast however long the history.
  • What a thread has in flight, the same for the hub, CLI, TUI and orchestrator. Hung-turn cards are judged by it, with evidence, one per incident.
  • TUI: one Threads sidebar (Ctrl-B); a color per thread; cards as tall as their text; next-message suggestions; ! shell commands; queued messages you can take back; settings; long cards answered on a phone.
  • Fixed: an approval card whose tool name (Claude Code) or kind (ACP) was too long to show whole still offered allow. It's now deny-only, found by this release's long translator fuzz.

Upgrading

On its first start, the 0.3.0 hub moves twr.db to schema 9 (10 once it records an account), which twr 0.2.0 refuses to open. Copy the database first if you may want to go back. The runner protocol is now 7: an SSH box of the hub's OS and CPU switches to the new build by itself, and a twr runner you set up yourself must be updated together with the hub.

Everything else is in CHANGELOG.md.

Install

Linux (x86_64, arm64; static) and macOS (Apple silicon, Intel):

curl -fsSL https://twr.tools/install.sh | sh

This version only: add TWR_VERSION=v0.3.0 before sh. Or download
twr-<target>.tar.gz below, check it against sha256sums.txt, and put twr on
your PATH.

Verify

twr update checks sha256sums.txt.sig, the signature of the checksums, with
twr's release key before it installs anything, and install.sh does too where its
openssl can (OpenSSL 3; macOS's LibreSSL can't). To check by hand, see
docs/install.md. Each
archive also has a build provenance attestation, which the GitHub CLI checks:

gh attestation verify twr-<target>.tar.gz --repo ignaval/twr \
  --signer-workflow ignaval/twr/.github/workflows/release.yml

macOS

macOS is built and tested in CI on every change, but it has had less hands-on use than Linux so far. Please report what breaks there.
