Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.4
Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.4
Native Linux Vulkan/Wayland preview, fixing the startup segfault.
What's new vs preview.3
- Fixed a crash right after the Vulkan device was created: ImGui's Vulkan backend was built to use function pointers that were never loaded, so it called a null
vkCreateSampler. It now links against the Vulkan loader directly. - GPUs without Vulkan 1.2 or
VK_KHR_swapchainare skipped up front and listed in the startup error dialog instead of failing later. - Checked on the build box with Lavapipe under Xvfb: the main window opens.
Still included
CSR 1.2, CSR 2.0 upscale, CSR 2.0 InterpFast FG; Game Mode/gamescope path still experimental
Honest limits
- Real-GPU and Deck Game Mode QA: unverified (Lavapipe only on the build box)
- CSR AI / FSR2+ / XeSS / LarkquillAI / DLSS: not on Linux yet
- This is a prerelease; Windows Beta10 remains the Latest release
Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.3
Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.3
Native Linux Vulkan/Wayland preview — silent-exit fixes for desktop launches (CachyOS / GNOME Wayland and similar).
What's new vs preview.2
- Startup failures write
~/.local/share/universal-framefx/last-run.logand show an SDL error dialog (no more silent flash-close when stderr is invisible) - GPU selection requires graphics+compute+present for the window surface; prefers discrete GPU; clear error if none
- Shader discovery finds AppDir
share/ufx-linux/shaderswithoutUFX_SHADER_DIR - Swapchain retries PRE_MULTIPLIED / INHERIT / POST_MULTIPLIED if OPAQUE fails (Wayland)
- AppRun /
run.shcapture stdout+stderr into the same log (tee when run from a terminal) docs/TROUBLESHOOT.md: fuse2,--appimage-extract-and-run, Vulkan drivers, GNOME portal, PipeWire
Still included
CSR 1.2, CSR 2.0 upscale, CSR 2.0 InterpFast FG; Game Mode/gamescope path still experimental
Honest limits
- Deck Game Mode hardware QA: unverified (Lavapipe selftest only on the build box)
- CSR AI / FSR2+ / XeSS / LarkquillAI / DLSS: not on Linux yet
- This is a prerelease; Windows Beta10 remains the Latest release
If it still won't open
- Open
~/.local/share/universal-framefx/last-run.logand paste it when reporting - Or from a terminal:
./Universal-FrameFX-*.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run - Or unzip the
.zipand run./run.sh

Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.2
Universal-FrameFX 1.4.1-linux-preview.2
Native Linux Vulkan/Wayland preview with an experimental Game Mode / gamescope path.
What's new vs preview.1
- Detect Game Mode (
GAMESCOPE_WAYLAND_DISPLAY, gamescope session vars,UFX_FORCE_GAMEMODE) - Capture preference in Game Mode: gamescope PipeWire node → portal ScreenCast fallback
ufx-gamescope-launch.shnested gamescope helper--session-info,--capture-fail-soft- Docs:
linux/docs/GAMEMODE.md,linux/docs/BLOCKERS.md
Still included
CSR 1.2, CSR 2.0 upscale, CSR 2.0 InterpFast FG (Desktop Mode portal capture)
Honest limits

FrameFX 1.4.1 Beta10
- LarkquillAI: a new assistant panel built into FrameFX. Ask anything about FrameFX, and have it build, apply or change presets for your games. FrameFX checks every change and asks you to confirm it, and frame generation stays off in anti-cheat games.
- Paste a LarkquillAI API key once (get a free one at https://larkquillai.vercel.app/api). It's stored encrypted for your Windows account.
- Models: Quill Wren (fast) and Quill Scribe (default) on Hobby (free), Quill Sage on Pro ($7.99 one-time), Quill Sovereign on Max ($12.99 one-time). Locked models show an Upgrade link.
- No key or no internet? The panel uses the offline preset model instead.
- The old local assistant (WrenbyAI) is now LarkquillAI Local (experimental).
- Includes everything in Beta9.
Windows only. The ROG Ally / Ally X edition stays on Beta4.
FrameFX 1.4.1 Linux Preview 1
FrameFX 1.4.1 Linux Preview 1
Desktop Linux Vulkan/Wayland preview (xdg-desktop-portal ScreenCast / PipeWire). This is a full desktop Linux build, not a Steam Deck–only refresh.
Steam Deck: Desktop Mode is a supported host using this same AppImage. Game Mode / gamescope is not supported.
Included
- CSR 1.2 (spatial upscale)
- CSR 2.0 upscale
- CSR 2.0 InterpFast frame generation
Not included (yet)
- Vendor FSR 2 / 3 / 4
- XeSS
- CSR AI on Linux
- Windows-only features
Verification
Self-tested on Lavapipe (software Vulkan) with --selftest and the numeric suite. That is not a hardware quality claim — please report results on real GPUs.

FrameFX 1.4.1 Beta9
- WyneAI (experimental): a new assistant built into FrameFX. Chat about anything, have it look things up on the web, set up and apply presets for your games, start or stop FrameFX, and open apps you allow. It asks you to confirm before it changes anything, and it won't turn on frame generation for games with anti-cheat. Runs on your PC.
- WyneAI needs a one-time setup: click WyneAI (experimental) in the app, then run agent\scripts\Setup-FrameFXAgent.ps1 from the FrameFX folder (about a 2 GB download).
