The feature

Hi,

I’d like to request the ability to customise date formats in Immich, including standard support for the Holocene (Human Era) calendar (e.g., 12026 instead of 2026).
A custom date format option would allow users to tailor the display dates in a way that aligns with their cultural, historical, or personal preferences.

Ideally:

• A custom date format setting in the UI, allowing users to define their own format (e.g., yyyy, yy, MM/dd/yyyy, yyyy.mm.dd, etc.).

Example:
Current: 2026-04-30
With Holocene format: 12026-04-30

• The inclusion of the Holocene calendar as a default option (e.g., HE:yyyy or yyyy+10000), so users can easily switch to it without manual input.

Immich supports localization via your browser configuration/date settings. I highly doubt we will add support for a different year format.

Locale settings are limiting, and it's supposedly and easy implementation, as it can even be just visual. Though as with everything it'd require some work, and I'm aware that it'd be far from a priority.
If we were to be satisfied with what exists instead of looking for better we'd still be using just film rolls (or something older).
Lastly, asking doesn't hurt 🙃, but thanks for the reply regardless.
