Deeper into the chip

  • Per-component power draw: CPU, GPU, Neural Engine and memory wattage read separately, on top of the total system power that 1.1.0 added. Useful now that running models locally is normal; Activity Monitor doesn't show this.
  • Per-process disk I/O: a "Top Disk Usage" list in the Disk window, so a disk that will not stop rattling is finally explainable. Covers processes running under your own user account, which the window says plainly.

A proper first run

  • Guided tour: a five-step walkthrough on first launch that explains the app and sets it up as you go, including a live preview of the menu bar that renders with the real drawing code. Reachable again later from Settings → About.

Menu bar

  • Fixed-width values so items stop jittering and neighbouring icons stop shifting around, which matters if you use a menu bar manager.
  • Compact mode that combines every enabled metric into a single menu bar item.
  • Drag-reordering in Settings is now keyboard-accessible, contributed by @Borisserz.

Lighter again

  • Closed windows now tear their content down instead of quietly carrying on. A detail window that had been opened once kept re-rendering for the rest of the session, which by itself roughly doubled idle CPU and never dropped back. The History window also kept re-querying its database every ten seconds after being closed.
  • The latency probe now only runs while the Network window is open. It was firing a request at an external host every five seconds for the entire session, for a number nothing was displaying.
  • History rows are batched to disk once a minute rather than written on every tick.
  • Measured on an M3 Pro: roughly 4.2% idle CPU before these changes, roughly 2.2% after, both after a detail window had been opened and closed. scripts/benchmark.sh reproduces it.

Also

  • scripts/test.sh runs the test suite on machines with only the Command Line Tools installed, where a bare swift test cannot find swift-testing.
  • A security policy and a code of conduct.
