Fixes

• Center image captions correctly when the total counter is visible, including narrow screens and inline viewers (#242, related to #139).
• Remove invisible closed overlays when CSS transitions are disabled, interrupted, or never start. Preserve fade-out timing and handle reopening safely (#243, related to #122).
• Remove owned portal containers on unmount and container changes, and avoid adding unused body containers in inline mode (#245, addresses the cleanup portion of #158).

Documentation and maintenance

• Add tested examples for counter localization with totalName and built-in toolbar ordering with customToolbar (#244).
• Remove retired deployment tooling and resolve critical development dependency advisories; add a critical-audit gate and multipart compatibility checks (#236–#241). These are development-tool changes.

Verification

• All 50 regression tests and full release-equivalent verification passed, including library/demo/SSR builds, package exports, hydration, multipart upload, critical audits, and package contents.
• Node.js 22 and 24 CI passed.
• Chrome 149 verified caption alignment, closed-page hit testing, repeated portal mount/unmount and container switching, counter localization, and toolbar actions.

Public issues remain open for maintainer follow-up. In particular, #158's ref and imperative-API requests are not included in this patch.
