2.1.0-beta.5
Pre-releaseBeta 5 adds world lighting, biome blending, block and mob picking, scene embeds, and browser bundles that can omit unused modules. It promotes the changes through alpha130 since beta4.
Highlights
- Worlds gain opt-in saved lighting, corner ambient occlusion, and biome color blending. These options require section meshing; lighting uses saved samples without propagating light after edits.
- Block picking and mob picking expose raycast APIs and click-to-inspect controls in the world demo.
- Scene embeds support portable scene links and the editor’s Copy embed action.
- Vanilla culling rules hide shared faces for matching and connected blocks. Versioned ID replacements resolve renamed blocks, items, and saved entities.
- Rendering fixes restore chain and furnace faces, preserve entity transforms and animated passes, and keep special-item bounds current after caller transforms.
Migration notes
The browser ESM build now ships per module. Package imports such as minerender and minerender/browser resolve the layout automatically. For direct file URLs, replace dist/browser/index.mjs with dist/browser/esm/index.browser.mjs; the worker moves from dist/browser/section.worker.mjs to dist/browser/esm/env/browser/section.worker.mjs. When copying output, retain the module tree and worker. Prefer static named imports so bundlers can remove unused code.
ImageInfo.data is now a Uint8Array, replacing Buffer. In Node, use Buffer.from(info.data) when you need Buffer-only methods.
Install with yarn add minerender@beta.
