First release of Bookmark Dedup, a Chrome extension (Manifest V3) that finds bookmarks pointing at the same URL and lets you choose which ones to delete.

⚠️ Pre-release: the logic is unit-tested, but the extension hasn't been tried in a real browser yet. Please report anything odd.

Features

  • Full-page dashboard (click the toolbar icon). Duplicates are grouped into cards showing title, URL, folder path and date added.
  • Normalized matching (ignores http/https, www., default ports, #fragment, trailing slash) or Exact matching.
  • Pick the one to keep (defaults to the oldest), then Delete N others, or delete single bookmarks.
  • Undo (toast or Ctrl+Z) puts deleted bookmarks back in their original folder and position.
  • Filter box, live refresh when bookmarks change, and a "show in bookmark manager" link.
  • Permissions: bookmarks and favicon only, no host access.

Install

  1. Download bookmark-dedup-0.1.0.zip below and extract it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder.
