Because of the %PATHEXT% variable, Windows realizes that anything with a .exe extension is executable and knows how to run it without the file extension. This should be removed to clean up the makefile.

Coverage Status

Coverage remained the same when pulling e4f365d on exe-extension into e3f178d on master.
