• MCP client instrumentation works with mcp 2.x (protocol 2026-07-28, stateless). Trace context goes in the SDK's meta= argument rather than _meta=, which raised TypeError: call_tool() got an unexpected keyword argument '_meta', and it no longer leaks into tool arguments. Clients that accept no meta argument are left alone.
