@jamiezigelbaum jamiezigelbaum released this 01 Nov 00:05

1.3.0 - 2026-10-31

  • Files on this computer reads Desktop, Documents, Downloads and iCloud Drive on a Mac. The installer brings a signed, notarized Olympus Engine helper, so macOS asks you once to allow each folder (#654).
  • A new install asks how to answer with Private items. Local first (recommended) or local only. Until you choose, nothing leaves your computer and no source is read remotely. Without a Venice key, the built-in model answers on your computer (#591).
  • Guided setup on the dashboard. Dropbox, Venice, Google (with your own Google app, step by step), Telegram and X each open a short step sheet with Back and Next, and check what you paste before saving.
  • Pair Telegram and WhatsApp from the dashboard, and choose which chats Olympus reads. Pairing alone reads nothing. Choosing chats never decides what is private: each message is still judged on its own. Pairing again with a different WhatsApp account asks for its chats again.
  • Privacy in your own words, on the main page. What you write is shown in full with Edit, follow-up questions sit beside it, and always-private rules apply as soon as you add them (#618).
  • Secrets are named. When only a Secret matches, ChatGPT and other apps say to look on your computer, and the Inbox shows the matching Secret's location (#611, #612, #622).
  • Answers in ChatGPT and other apps name their sources instead of showing bare [E1] (#590).
  • Chat search ranks the message that answers the question ahead of the newest ones (#619).
  • The "Private check still running" notice stays when an answer takes longer (#623). Waiting Private questions record why they retry and stop after a limit (#594).
  • On a Mac, olympus doctor checks the runtimes Olympus actually uses (#578, #624).
  • The dashboard sign-in link stays available in Safari (#579).
  • The dashboard shows when another worker owns your data, with a fix (#630). A deliberate engine restart no longer counts as a crash.
  • Anonymous answers are not offered to remote apps while they are off (#617).
  • Disconnected sources' data can still be opened and deleted (#615).
  • Connecting Evernote says to leave only View ticked on Evernote's consent screen (#616).

Known issues:

  • Chat search can miss a message that shares only one word with the question (#710).
  • Answers on your computer can take several minutes while sources are syncing (#620).
  • Captured WhatsApp messages can wait up to 30 minutes before they can be found (#609).
  • A few short WhatsApp messages can be held as Private when they are Personal (#636).

1.2.2 - 2026-10-30

  • Olympus supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on x86_64. On Ubuntu, restarting or stopping Olympus could be refused because it checked too early that the previous engine had stopped. It now waits for systemd to finish (#642).
  • Run olympus zkapi check-confinement to check whether anonymous answers are ready and see any steps needed (#639).

Known issues:

  • Telegram and WhatsApp search can rank the newest messages level with the best match, so an older message that answers the question may be missed (#619).
  • Answers on your computer can take several minutes while sources are syncing (#620).
  • A few short WhatsApp messages can be held as Private when they are Personal (#636).

v1.2.1

1.2.1 - 2026-10-29

  • On Linux, an Olympus link opened right after another Olympus window now opens. Before, a second open within ten seconds was refused, so the link did nothing until it was clicked again.
  • When you describe what is private to you, only the kinds you name are Private. A message about a child's check-up stays Personal if you said appointments are fine to share (#625).
  • Telegram keeps syncing when its private Python environment is removed, for example by clearing the cache: Olympus installs it again on its own. If it cannot, the dashboard says Telegram capture could not start, instead of Telegram going quiet.

Known issues:

  • Telegram and WhatsApp search can rank the newest messages level with the best match, so an older message that answers the question may be missed (#619).
  • Answers on your computer can take several minutes while sources are syncing (#620).
  • A few short WhatsApp messages can be held as Private when they are Personal (#636).

v1.2.0

1.2.0 - 2026-10-28

  • Import your archives. Each source's card has Import an archive, with a picker for that source's own exports. Drop an export or a whole folder onto the dashboard and Olympus imports a copy of it; your original is never touched. Exports from anywhere else go under Other archives.
  • One history per account. A Gmail Takeout export joins your Gmail source, a Telegram Desktop export joins your live Telegram, and a WhatsApp chat export joins the WhatsApp history it overlaps. What both bring is stored once.
  • Reflect, Roam and Evernote are sources of their own. Evernote exports come with their attachments.
  • Choose which Evernote notebooks Olympus reads. Only notebooks you own are offered, and a notebook can be marked always Private. An Evernote account connected before this update waits until its notebooks are chosen once (#601).
  • Attachments and media are items of their own. Gmail attachments (live mail and Takeout alike), Evernote attachments and WhatsApp pictures and videos are each read and judged on their own, so a payslip attached to a friendly email can be Private while the email stays Personal. Telegram photos and files, from live capture and from exports, are read the same way.
  • An archive import reads everything it can, including Telegram account details and service messages, and the dashboard tells what could not be read apart from how it was read.
  • WhatsApp pairs on a Mac without developer tools. The installer brings a prebuilt, checksummed WhatsApp bridge, so pairing no longer needs Go and a C compiler on Apple silicon.
  • Live Telegram and WhatsApp capture is sturdier. Any size of backlog is read, a lost position is recovered, dropped messages are counted, and the dashboard tells a quiet account from one that stopped.
  • Each source keeps its data in its own folder. Existing accounts move into their folders when Olympus starts after the update. Delete, Export and uninstall work from the same record of what each account owns.
  • Every store indexes for meaning the same way, whatever source filled it, and catches up on items still missing vectors (#600).
  • Answers: a question with no matching evidence says so instead of failing, and a Private file matched only by its name, or a file Olympus never read, no longer withholds the whole answer.
  • The privacy check no longer counts files still waiting to be read as missing a question.
  • An Inbox delete that removed nothing says so and keeps the answer.
  • The archive picker hides hidden (dot) folders.
  • Every dashboard press says what happened: Ask with no question asks for one, a disabled Save says why, Connect keeps saying the sign-in opened in another tab, and a signed-out page reloads instead of going quiet.
  • Delete indexed data no longer stops the Gmail source when it runs before the source has started.
  • Open on this computer works for files whose path has spaces or other special characters.
  • Telegram pairing installs what it needs. The first olympus connect telegram --pair sets up Telethon in Olympus's own Python environment; nothing has to be installed by hand.
  • Pairing Telegram or WhatsApp reads every chat with no chat question to answer. Each message is still judged Personal, Private or Secret by what it says. Telegram reads your most recent chats, up to 200; a chat started later is read after you pair again.
  • A disconnected source keeps offering Delete indexed data while its items are still stored.
  • Asking the same Private question again later gets a fresh answer instead of the earlier one.
  • Index status names Files on this computer.
  • Confirm it's you works from any browser: the window shows a code, and you approve when it matches (#631).
  • Olympus sets no limit of its own on how much you use it: no caps on questions or on Inbox answers.
  • On the small built-in model, text that reads like your own records stays Private.

Known issues:

  • Telegram and WhatsApp search can rank the newest messages level with the best match, so an older message that answers the question may be missed (#619).
  • Answers on your computer can take several minutes while sources are syncing (#620).
  • On Linux, an olympus:// link opened within 10 seconds of another Olympus window does nothing; click it again. Fixed in 1.2.1.

Olympus 1.1.0

@jamiezigelbaum jamiezigelbaum released this 15 Oct 23:58

Olympus 1.1.0: your Private answers in an Inbox on your computer, and one question to three models.

To update, run the install command again; your sources, settings and agent connections are kept.

  • On a Mac: curl -fsSL https://olympusplugin.ai/install.sh | sh
  • On Omarchy (x64): curl -fsSL https://olympusplugin.ai/install-linux.sh | sh
  • For OpenClaw, give your agent the installation guide.

SHA-256 of olympus-1.1.0.tgz: b9ea7f219886dfd74a30bdbfadbc6a1c876795836a600325cf77ec80b9ac8372 (16134010 bytes).

  • Questions agents send that need your Private items are answered on your computer automatically; the agent links you to the answer in Olympus, and answers wait in the new inbox.
  • Ask a question in Olympus and choose which model answers: the local model on your computer, a zkAPI model that reads only your question and isn't told who's asking (what you ask can still identify you), or a Venice model. Every answer lands in the inbox on your computer.

Olympus 1.0.1

@jamiezigelbaum jamiezigelbaum released this 15 Oct 18:22
f79a24a

Olympus 1.0.1: fixes for Mac and Omarchy Linux.

SHA-256 of olympus-1.0.1.tgz: fbf0de73a0188a7cf818c0264bd4601432d81277c6656dbef2096457c7d4b43e (16116466 bytes).

  • On Linux, signing out ends the owner session, saving settings keeps your Olympus window working, Olympus opens in one window without a flash, computers without IPv6 keep their dashboard, Confirm continues the original page automatically, and browser confirmation opens are capped at six per hour.
  • On Linux, fixed a way for another account on the same computer to intercept the one-time sign-in that opens the Olympus window. Olympus 1.0.0 had it.
  • Connecting an agent no longer shows an expired approval after it worked.
  • Private search finds items when not every word matches, keeping readable content ahead of title-only matches. For longer questions, one shared common word is not enough to report a Private match to your AI app.
  • Progress finishes when names-only copies have content elsewhere; items settled without readable content appear under problems with a way to find them.
  • Private items can be found by meaning, on your computer only. Installs still on the 1.0.0 default privacy settings switch over automatically, keeping your other settings; privacy settings managed by OpenClaw stay as they are.
  • Fixed content and prepared answers remaining available after an item moves from Personal to Private: the Personal copy's text and search vectors are removed, and an answer prepared from the item before the move is withheld. Copies 1.0.0 left behind are removed after you update, once the Private copy is confirmed to hold the content.

What is in 1.0: CHANGELOG.md.

Known issues, fixed in 1.0.1

  • If an AI app read an item while it was Personal and the check then moves it to Private, an answer already being prepared can still be delivered, and a copy made on your computer stays there (it is never sent anywhere).
  • The dashboard can show Gmail as stalled while it is syncing normally.
