Digests — your widgets as text (#131)

A digest turns widgets you pick into plain text at an address Home Assistant can read. From there it can go out as a phone notification at seven, an SMS or a Signal message. Magic Frame itself sends nothing.

Day 3 — Mia: Gym, Music — Leo: Art
🎒 Bring the gym bag (Mia)

• Milk
Rain, 11°C (feels like 8°C)
  • Editor → Digests: pick widgets from any view, put them in order, and preview the text.
  • Eight widget types: School rotation, Calendar, Todos, Shopping list, Weather, Sensor, Environment and Text. Each has a few options of its own, such as today or the next few hours, only overdue to-dos, a one-line or an hourly forecast, or one child or all of them.
  • The same data as the tile on the wall: the same sources, the same lists (built-in, Home Assistant or Todoist) and the same school holidays. If a source can't be reached, the line says so instead of guessing.
  • In your installation's language, or any other with ?lang=.
  • Behind the companion token. The display addresses are open to everyone on the network; a ready-made summary of your household isn't. The editor shows the Home Assistant configuration ready to copy, with the token in a header.

Setting it up in Home Assistant, including the 255-character limit of a sensor's state: Digests.
