1.6: Organizing files on your PC
The main configuration item pertaining to Files on the PC is set in the configuration dialog. You should keep all your Fluke 900 related files and projects underneath this directory in order for the software to run the most efficiently.
By default the program will make a sub-folder in your ‘My Documents’ folder called ‘Fluke900 Files’. Note that Fluke 900 Link itself is not limited to files and paths with DOS 8.3 names and paths may contain spaces, HOWEVER, many of the files that need to go to the Fluke need to be less than 15 characters long. Additionally, it is important to note from the Fluke 900 User Manual, that the Fluke holds files in a case-sensitive manner, while Windows operating systems are case-insensitive. This means that by design, some files are translated to different extensions during file transfer. It is important to understand this and more complete details are under the ‘Fluke 900 File Types’ section below.
