A reader for Perl's Plain Old Documentation format should be not to complicated but very handy to extract documentation from Perl files. Essentially POD supports:

  • block level elements: section headings, lists, paragraphs, verbatim code blocks, embedded HTML
  • inline elements: bold, italic, verbatim, links (to URL and internal links to section headings)

The reader could also extract some special sections such as =head1 AUTHOR and =head1 NAME.

This issue is related to issue #176 (POD/Pod writer).

Meanwhile I created the Perl module Pod::Pandoc so need to implement a Pod reader in Haskell is low. Where could the existence of this reader best be documented?
