jihoo 0.2.1: formatter fixes, and the compiler and standard library formatted with them.

jihoo fmt

  • Indentation: delimiters opened on one line (f(match x {, Ok(S {) add one level together, and a line that starts with closers returns to the indentation of the line that opened them.
  • Wrapping: a list only overflows on the lines holding its own delimiters and separators; nested calls expand once (Err(err( ... ))); a single element that would not fit anyway stays in place; ?, closers and .as_str() after a list count toward its width; parameters expand for a long return type instead of splitting Result(T, E).
  • Spacing: *(p as *u64) and -(x + 1) keep the prefix operator attached, S { a, .. } keeps its spaces, and impl(T: type) [T] keeps the space before [.

Repository

  • Every file in compiler/ and lib/std is jihoo fmt output, and the test suite checks it.

Binaries

jihoo-v0.2.1-<arch>-linux.tar.gz for x86_64 and aarch64: bin/jihoo and the standard library in share/jihoo/lib. It needs glibc and LLVM 21 (libLLVM-21.so, clang, ld.lld), or use nix run github:jihoolang/jihoo.

jihoo v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Oct 23:44

jihoo 0.2.0: the self-hosted compiler with checking, diagnostic and formatting tools.

Tools

  • jihoo check <file.jh> [--lib] checks types, moves, borrows and compile-time obligations without generating code or needing LLVM or a linker.
  • --error-format=json reports source diagnostics with byte ranges, related notes and generic-instance context, for editors.
  • jihoo fmt <file.jh> [--check] [--width N] formats one file while preserving comments, literals and meaningful line breaks; its output must reparse to the same syntax tree.
  • --comptime-report <path> writes the compile-time interpreter's steps, allocations and per-function costs as JSON.
  • jihoo --version and jihoo --help.

Repository

  • The experiments are gone: functional fusion is a benchmark in benchmarks/functional-fusion (its API is std.iter), and the Horn kernel, proofs and checked codec moved to jihoo-proofs.
  • The compiler is built from 0.1.3; from now on, 0.2.0 is the seed.

Binaries

jihoo-v0.2.0-<arch>-linux.tar.gz for x86_64 and aarch64: bin/jihoo and the standard library in share/jihoo/lib. It needs glibc and LLVM 21 (libLLVM-21.so, clang, ld.lld), or use nix run github:jihoolang/jihoo.

Next: a language server built on jihoo check (roadmap).
