Modan2 - Comprehensive Morphometrics Software

Modan2 empowers researchers and scientists to explore and understand shape variations in biological objects through geometric morphometrics. This user-friendly software streamlines your workflow from data acquisition to analysis and visualization.

Introduction

Modan2 provides a holistic solution for geometric morphometrics, enabling:

Installation

  1. System Requirements:

    • Windows 10, macOS 10.12, or Linux (Ubuntu 18.04 or equivalent)
    • Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU
    • 8 GB RAM minimum
    • 500 MB disk space
    • Dedicated GPU recommended for 3D features
  2. Download and Install:

    • Get the latest Modan2 installer from our release section.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Getting Started

  • Main Window:
    • Toolbar: Access key functions for datasets, objects, analysis, and preferences.
    • Panes: View datasets, object lists, and object details.
  • Adding Datasets and Objects:
    • Create new datasets and easily add objects via drag-and-drop.
  • Importing and Exporting:
    • Seamlessly transfer datasets in and out of Modan2.

Using Modan2

  • Dataset Analysis: Initiate and manage analyses through the intuitive wizard.
  • Preferences: Customize settings for visualization, window behavior, and more.

Dataset and Object Management

  • Dataset and Object Dialogs: Edit details, landmarks, wireframes, and properties.
  • Bulk Editing: Efficiently modify multiple objects at once.
  • Drag-and-Drop: Intuitively move and copy objects between datasets.

Dataset Analysis

  • Landmark Visualization: View landmarks and average shapes in 2D or 3D.
  • Object List and Scatterplot: Explore relationships between objects.
  • PCA Results: Analyze principal component analysis data.
  • Saving Results: Export scatterplots and PCA data for further investigation.

Preferences

  • Window Geometry: Control the position and size of the main window.
  • Scatterplot Visualization: Customize colors and symbols for data points.
