SwiftSoql 1.8.2

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 27 Oct 11:41

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.8.2

Fixes

  • Subquery links in a selected row. A subquery's link in the results table (such as "2 rows") now turns white when its row is selected. Before, its blue matched the selection's blue, so the link disappeared in the selected row.

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.8.1

  • Faster results table. Results now use a native Mac table, so tens of thousands of rows and hundreds of columns scroll smoothly. Scrolling a long, editable result is about 15 times faster, and very wide results no longer crash when scrolled down. Edit a cell by double-clicking it, or by clicking it in a selected row.
  • Windows reopen where they were. The first window opens at the size and place it was last, even on Macs set to close windows when quitting, and on whichever screen it was on.

Fixes

  • Crash on large orgs. SwiftSoql 1.8 could crash on orgs with many SObjects while it described them all for completions and error checking. It now describes them one batch at a time.
  • Closing windows. ⌘W and File ▸ Close work again. Closing the last org window shows the list of orgs, and closing the list of orgs when it's the last window quits SwiftSoql.
  • Org kind badge. On macOS 26 and later, the toolbar badge showing the kind of org (Production, Sandbox and so on) no longer sits on a glass button background.

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.8

  • Data dictionary in Excel. File ▸ Export Data Dictionary… can now save an Excel workbook as well as CSV or Markdown. Its first sheet lists the chosen SObjects, each linked to a sheet of its fields with their labels, types, help text, picklist values and formulas.

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.7

Fixes

  • Logging for another user. Start Logging ▸ For Another User… now searches as you type and picks the first match, so Start Logging is ready as soon as the user appears, and Return starts it. Before, it needed Return to search and then a click on a result before the button would enable.
  • Code coverage source. In a class's coverage view, long lines wrap under the code rather than under the line numbers, and covered and uncovered lines are colored across the whole line instead of only behind their text.

SwiftSoql 1.6

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 26 Oct 00:17

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.6

  • Runs on macOS 15 and later. SwiftSoql no longer needs macOS 27: it now runs on macOS Sequoia, macOS 26 and macOS 27.
  • Open source. SwiftSoql is now released under the MIT license.

SwiftSoql 1.5

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 25 Oct 22:57

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.5

  • Settings in tabs. Settings is now organized into General, Editor, Data and Login tabs, each sized to fit.
  • Data settings. The new Data tab sets how many rows each query fetches per request, how many rows the results table holds, and when exports and imports switch to the Bulk API.
  • Import batch size. Imports can send fewer than 200 rows per request, for orgs whose triggers and flows hit Apex limits ("Apex CPU time limit exceeded", "Too many SOQL queries") on larger transactions. Set it in Settings ▸ Data or in the import sheet, which now says how many requests an import will make.

SwiftSoql 1.4

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 25 Oct 22:26

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.4

  • Debug logs. The new Logs workspace (⌘4) lists your debug logs, everyone's, or one user's, and shows a log with the same filters as Anonymous Apex. Start Logging sets a trace flag for you or another user for 30 minutes to 24 hours; Follow checks for new logs every 10 seconds; logs can be deleted one at a time or all of yours.
  • Apex tests. The new Tests workspace (⌘5) runs your org's test classes, or all local tests, and shows each method's result, with stack-trace links into the class. The Coverage pane lists each class's coverage and shows its source with covered and uncovered lines highlighted.
  • Production guard. Each window shows what kind of org it's connected to. Production windows open read-only — no edits, deletes, imports or anonymous Apex — until you click the padlock in the toolbar. Settings can lock Developer Edition orgs too.
  • Record inspector. The inspector's new Record tab shows every field of the selected row's record, with labels; edit fields there and follow lookups to related records.
  • Results. Filter the loaded rows as you type, and hide or reorder columns from the header.
  • Import. Delete and Hard Delete join Insert, Update and Upsert. An Id column must hold Ids of the chosen SObject.
  • Org limits. Query ▸ Org Limits… (⇧⌘L), or click the API counter, to see every limit, most used first.
  • Data dictionary. File ▸ Export Data Dictionary… writes chosen SObjects' fields as CSV or Markdown.
  • Anonymous Apex. Run just the selected lines, and keep a library of snippets.
  • A new app icon.

Fixes

  • The Query and Apex workspaces, and the Apex workspace in particular, can now be made much narrower.
  • New windows open centered on their screen and no larger than it.
  • Data dictionary CSVs neutralize spreadsheet formulas, as results exports do.

SwiftSoql 1.3

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 25 Oct 17:50

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.3

  • Tooling API tabs. The wrench button in the tab bar (or Query ▸ Use Tooling API in This Tab, ⌃⌘T) switches a tab to the Tooling API, so you can query ApexClass, CustomField, FlowDefinitionView and more. The sidebar, schema diagram, completions and error checking follow the tab. Tooling results are read-only.
  • Create and clone records. Query ▸ New Record… (⌃⌘N) opens a form with the SObject's fields, required ones first. Right-click a row and choose Clone Record… to copy every field a new record can set. New records appear at the top of the results.
  • Import CSV files. File ▸ Import CSV… (⇧⌘I) inserts, updates or upserts records. Columns are matched to fields by name or label, and the mapping is remembered. Files of up to 10,000 rows go 200 at a time; larger ones use a Bulk API job. Save Results writes every row with its Id and any error, so failed rows can be fixed and imported again.
  • Results as JSON. A Table | JSON switch shows the loaded rows as JSON, subqueries included. Export is now a menu of CSV and JSON, and Copy as JSON copies the selected rows.

Fixes

  • A query checked before the org's SObject list had loaded could show false errors until you edited it.
  • SObject names in describe requests are now encoded like every other request path.

SwiftSoql 1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 24 Oct 23:47

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.2

  • A consumer key for each org. Browser login needs an External Client App in each org, so Settings ▸ Browser Login now keeps a list of keys, each with a label such as the org's name. Log In with Browser… suggests the key last used with that login page, and a new key can be entered there and is saved once the login works. Saved logins keep the key they were made with, so reconnecting always uses the right one.

Fixes

  • Toolbar display mode. Choosing Icon and Text or Text Only from the toolbar's context menu is now remembered after relaunching.

SwiftSoql 1.1

@jimmitchell jimmitchell released this 24 Oct 23:15

What's new in SwiftSoql 1.1

  • Your own key for browser login. Logging in with the browser now uses the consumer key of an External Client App in your own org, entered in Settings ▸ Browser Login. The README walks through creating one. The Salesforce CLI remains the easiest way to connect.
  • SObject icons. The schema sidebar and diagram show each SObject's Lightning icon.
  • Diagram export. Export the schema diagram as a PDF or PNG from the diagram's menu.
  • Accessibility. VoiceOver can move around the schema diagram, and status icons, picklists, editable cells and completions now say what they are.
