Berlinan 1.3.1
Berlinan 1.3.0
- CC LFO editor: click ∿ + under a voice name to add an LFO that
slowly moves a synth control (default CC 74, the filter on many synths).
Shape, cycle (1–64 bars), Min/Max range, depth and phase are set in a
strip under the voice lane; changes are heard at once, also while
playing, and are saved with the project. Up to four LFOs per voice. - Parameter list: the magnifier next to the CC number opens more than 400 synths
and effects from midi.guide (manufacturer › model › parameter, with search).
Data: midi.guide, CC BY-SA 4.0. - The lane menu's CC Profile item is gone; the parameter list replaces it.
Berlinan 1.2.9
- Fixed: after picking EXT or LINK, the clock-source label in the transport
bar kept showing INT (the choice itself did take effect). - The clock-source tooltip no longer gives a setup for Ableton Live that
cannot work; it now points to an IAC bus. - Manual and website reviewed for beginners: plainer wording, no made-up
terms, factual fixes (English and Czech).
Berlinan 1.2.8
- Automatic updates: at launch Berlinan checks whether a new version is
out and offers it with its release notes; after you click Install
Update it downloads, verifies and installs it and restarts. Switch the
check off in Berlinan ▸ Settings… (⌘,); Check for Updates… in the
app menu checks by hand. - Readability: labels are brighter (contrast at least 4.5:1) and the
performance panel wraps onto two or three rows instead of cutting
controls short in narrower windows.
Berlinan 1.2.7
- The app and the built-in templates now start in A minor (was C minor).
Your own templates and saved projects keep their key.
Also new since 1.2.5 (1.2.6 was not published separately)
- Takes (capture browser): every play → stop pass is recorded as a take.
Window ▸ Takes (also in the Export Capture menu) lists them newest
first, the one being recorded on top. Rename a take, save it as a
multi-track.mid, drag it into Live or Finder, or delete it. Takes are
kept on disk (saved every 10 s while recording) and survive quitting.
A template loaded while playing starts a new take at its bar line.
Berlinan 1.2.5
- Per-voice MIDI channel (user request): click the ch N label in a
voice lane and pick channel 1–16 — also while playing (what still sounds
on the old channel is silenced). Channels already used by another voice
show its name. Saved with the project; capture export follows.
Berlinan 1.2.4
- Fixes from a project audit:
- Stop, mute and switching the MIDI output now silence long notes (a
drone kept sounding until its planned end). - EXT clock and Link keep working after a project change or template
load (EXT could stop following until the app was restarted). - Capture export after a second, shorter take no longer returns the old
take or a mix of both. - Opening a broken document (two voices with the same id, impossible
meter or tempo) shows why instead of crashing the app. berlinan-cli renderof a project with the arranger on now exports
what the app plays (voice entries, B-part, ending).
- Stop, mute and switching the MIDI output now silence long notes (a
- MIDI output device (user request): the output label in the transport
bar is now a menu — keep the virtual source "Berlinan Out" or send notes,
CC and clock straight to a connected device (DIN interface, USB synth,
IAC bus). The choice is remembered; an unplugged device shows
"disconnected" and resumes when plugged back in. - Fix: the templates menu was disabled while playing, so 1.2.3's
"templates load while playing" could not actually be used. The menu now
opens mid-jam.
Berlinan 1.2.3
- Templates load while playing (user feedback): pick one from the
templates menu mid-jam and it takes over at the next bar — the clock
keeps running (MIDI clock, Link and EXT stay in phase) and the new piece
starts from its beginning. The horizon strip announces it. Before, the
menu silently did nothing while the transport ran.
Berlinan 1.2.2
- Voices are named by role in the UI (user feedback): lanes, menus, the
horizon strip, the Delay Cheat Sheet and the pattern editor say
Pluck 1, Pluck 2, Bass, Pad, Lead, Drone, Heartbeat instead of internal
ids like "bedPluck1". Exported MIDI track names are unchanged. - "1 bar" instead of "1 bars" in the horizon strip and the LCM readout.
Berlinan 1.2.1
- Bass melody walks are seeded now (user feedback): regenerate and New
Seed produce a NEW walk telling the SAME harmony — downbeat roots stay
the progression's law; the seed shapes the path, syncopation and octave
dips. Deterministic voices (drone, heartbeat) disable their regenerate
button and say why. - Distribution: the DMG is notarized again, and the app inside it is
notarized and stapled on its own too (timestamped Developer ID signature,
pipeline aligned with MDPre).
