What's changed
Passwords no longer expire by default, because apparently they're configured to do so when not created through the GUI.
If you have been affected by this issue, run lusrmgr.msc and navigate to Users > (your user name) and double click it. Check the box that says "Password never expires" and save.
If you do not have access to this MMC snap-in for whatever reason, you can try running this command in an Administrator terminal:
wmic UserAccount set PasswordExpires=False
Do note that this command will disable password expiry for all accounts on your system.
