Requirements for MacOS Versions

Hello, I hope this is the best place to ask this, I couldn't find a DM method for the dev, and I didn't want to open an issue.

For the MacOS Version requirement. I see that it requires MacOS 14+ to run. Will this requirement ever change? I have a Late 2014 Mac Mini that I plan to use this on, but it's highest OS is 12.7.6. Through OCLP I can comfortably get this machine to MacOS 14, but anything beyond that is unlikely probably.

Just want to make sure if I go through this while process that this will remain useable well into the future with the MacOS 14 requirement and that Apple won't force a change to require a higher OS version like what tends to happen on iPhones and iPads with apps from the app store.

Hey! I'm actually glad you reached out, as the minimum macOS requirement is something I've thought about quite a bit.

Funnily enough, SwiftMiner originally required macOS 26, but I lowered that to macOS 14 after realising there wasn't really anything in the app that needed a newer version.

While SwiftMiner is developed around the latest version of macOS, I have no plans to increase the minimum requirement. Most of the ongoing development is now focused on improving the mining logic, so I don't foresee any reason that macOS 14 support would need to change.

The only catch is that I don't actually have a Mac running macOS 14 to test on so If you do run into any issues, please feel free to submit a bug report on GitHub and I'll happily look into it.

So far so good, it's working as it should, at least on MacOS 14.8.9 (OpenCore Legacy Patched).

It even retched and installed an update.

The only thing I can't seem to get to work is adding a 2nd account. It just hangs. It'll log in, but goes to the twitch home page, with a message in the bottom right saying 'sign in above. Swift miner will detect your login automatically.'

Nothing happens from there and I can't add the 2nd account. I even tried clicking twitch drops on the bottom right and letting it sit there and that doesn't do anything but take me to the twitch drops campaign page on the account I logged into.

Am I doing something wrong to add a 2nd account?

Thanks for the feedback. No, you’re not doing anything wrong, that’s a bug.

Twitch recently changed how sign-in works, so accounts are now added through a Twitch login window inside SwiftMiner. On your setup it isn’t noticing that the second login finished, so it just sits there. I’m working on an update and will fix this. In the meantime, “Send It to Them” (the invitation/code option) should still work for adding a second account.

Ah that makes sense. So I tried the send it to them way, and I can log in, but authentication fails on the miner saying data is missing.
